On Wednesday, March 13, GenNext met and mingled at Bar Louie in the Arena District for happy hour with other service oriented young professionals in our community committed to speaking up for early literacy by bringing in new or gently used books to donate to after school programs across our community through Children's Hunger Alliance.

Reading is the foundation of learning, yet too many children do not have access to literacy rich environments.  On March 1'st, children across America took part in Read Across America Day.  Read Across America Day is a fun way to celebrate books and reading, but our commitment to early literacy must be sustained every day of the year!

Children's Hunger Alliance's Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities program provides nutrition and physical fitness activities at after school and summer programs throughout Columbus.  In addition to receiving a healthy meal and participating in physical activities, youth in this program have the opportunity to read with volunteers and staff.
